The Chemex coffee machine was invented by Dr. Peter Schlumbohm PhD. in 1941. It is made of non-corrosive borosilicate glass, which ensures that no unwanted taste gets into the coffee. The hourglass-shaped coffee maker is fitted with a wooden ring tied with a leather cord.
Preparing coffee in the Chemex CM-6A Pour Over
Preparation is not too different from a drip coffee maker: insert a paper filter into the top of the glass container, which is rinsed with more hot water (this gets rid of the "paper" taste. Pour in the appropriate amount of medium ground coffee (gold standard 60 g / 1 litre), into which pour a small amount of water (telplot approx. 93 °C) As soon as the carbon dioxide bubbles start to release, and the first drops seep into the bottom of the container, add water and stir. Repeat until you have used up all the water to be extracted. The entire filtering process should not exceed 4-5 minutes. Serve in preheated cups (to warm up, you can pour hot water into the cup before serving, this will warm the cup sufficiently).
