Colombia Alonso Bustos El Mirador Huila Papayo - freshly roasted coffee min. 50 g

Alonso Bustos sees his future clearly - he plans to be on his farm every day for the rest of his life and to keep improving it. He says his coffee is the result of constant effort and diligence, and he wants the people who drink his coffee to know how much time and care he has put into it.

Alonso's family has been growing coffee for more than 50 years, and it looks like the family tradition won't end there. His three children and two grandchildren have followed the same path as Alonso and plan to continue his legacy. Alonso inherited his beloved Fincu El Mirador coffee farm from his wife. In 2017, Alonso started the coffee selection at the encouragement of his children. Shortly thereafter, he planted a special variety of Papayo coffee that is prized for its flavor, large cherries and high quality.

The Papayo variety is rare outside the Huila region and little is known about how it came to Colombia. It was originally thought to be a mutation of the Caturra variety, but World Coffee Research's genetic tests suggest a close relationship with Ethiopian landraces. Papayo cherries have a typical elongated shape. The local name is probably based on the similarity of the cherry to the papaya, which has a similar shape.
