Marcelino, his wife Lizana, and their two sons Franklin and Jhonner live and work on the family farm La Lucuma, where everyone has a share of responsibilities. They do most of the work that needs to be done during the year themselves, hiring only a few pickers during the harvest season. Don Marcelino is in charge of administration and sales, his wife takes care of post-harvest processing and their sons supervise harvesting and quality control.
Don Chinguel has been growing coffee almost all his life, which represents more than 40 years of experience. Although he is a seasoned coffee grower, he is always trying to experiment and try new ways of thinking and producing coffee. He has planted some of his land with new varieties and has also discovered one new variety, which he calls Marshell. This variety was supposed to be stronger and more resistant to disease, so he and his family decided to plant more of it on their land. In addition to the benefits associated with growing it, it also has great taste qualities. So much so that in 2019, the Chinguel family won the Cup of Excellence competition, putting La Lucuma Farm firmly on the map of exceptional specialty coffees in Peru.
