Bukonzo is a community of cooperatives that was formed in 1999 to support Uganda's poor, war-ravaged farmers and motivate them to grow coffee. From an initial 11 members, the cooperative soon grew to 72 groups. Thanks to financial support, know-how in both cooperative management and leadership, and coffee growing, today the Bukonzo region successfully produces and exports quality fair trade and organic coffee to the world.
